In Strangers on the High Seas: Book 4 of the Captain No Beard Series by Carole P. Roman, the story starts with Captain No Beard watching some dolphins frolicking near the bow of the ship. Cayla, the newest member of the crew, is all excited at seeing the dolphins. As they set sail, the crew sees another ship in the distance and they think the captain should sound the alarm as the ship has black sails and a skull and crossbones flag. The ship's crew call out to them that they have lost their way and are looking for directions. Captain No Beard is in no mood to talk to them and he takes the wheel to move ahead at full speed. The ship follows them, but Cayla saves the Flying Dragon from Shark Bait, the other ship. How does she do it?

This adventure of the Flying Dragon and its crew will bring a smile to the faces of young readers. Cayla is adorable. The illustrations make the scenes and characters real and vivid. I like the way this series is evolving and it is definitely a collection to have in one’s personal library. Every volume stands on its own and can be read without having read the previous ones. We saw Pepper Parrot making her entry in Volume 2 and Cayla in this volume. I wonder if there will be more interesting characters in the next stories! I am eagerly waiting to read the next books to meet new and interesting characters along with their adventures.
