Cincher's Waltz by Joslyn Chase captivated me with its intrigue and suspense. Riley Forte loses her entire family in a fire, an event that almost upends her life. She is training at a secret spy camp in Bavaria. Perhaps this is the only way to reclaim her life. When she discovers a WWII artifact that poses the deadliest threat yet to humanity, she races across countries, uncovering clues. She is not the only one after the powerful artifact; a criminal known as The Cincher will kill to stop anyone from getting to it before him. He has the skills, the intelligence, and the resources to beat anyone in this deadly game. What chances does Riley have of finding the device before him? She is a step ahead of him, but for how long before she is beaten in this deadly race?

Joslyn Chase’s novel is the best suspense thriller I have read in months, with well-developed and intriguing characters, superb storytelling, and a twisty plot that keeps you turning the pages. The chapters are short, which makes for great reading, and the alternating viewpoints also fuel the suspense. It is hard to put this novel down, thanks to the well-crafted and timely cliffhangers. Each chapter is designed to propel you forward into the next, just as James Patterson does with his storytelling. The author builds tension through every page, creating dialogues that engage and characters that you want to follow. I enjoyed the wit, Riley’s intelligence, and quick thinking. Cincher and his manservant, Krantz, were always up to something. This propulsive thriller is packed with action and drama, a real page-turner for those who enjoy intrigue and mystery.
