Coral reefs are the rainforests of the sea and one of the diverse ecosystems found on the planet. This book reveals unknown secrets about coral reefs and how they play an important part in balancing the growth and structure of our planet. Every detail connected with coral reefs is explained. The book also tells you how the reefs are being destroyed due to human ignorance. The symbiotic relationship that exists under the ocean is discussed in this book with apt examples. That makes it easy to understand the concept. The book speaks about how dependent we are on these coral reefs for jobs, tourism, food, etc. Pictures are an added bonus to any book. There is something very colorful and mysterious about the living creatures of the ocean. The colorful pictures of the living creatures make it more bright and attractive for children to go through.
I found the book informative and educative. The depleting ozone layer, global warming and the crippling environment are all caused by our nonchalant attitude to nature. I don't think the readership of this book should be restricted only to children. This book is suitable for all age groups because there are many interesting facts and details one does not know about coral reefs that have been discussed in the book. I found the chapters on how to protect the reefs, the reef etiquette, coral reef facts and threats to the coral reef very informative.
