Nobody would suspect Damian Garcia, a graduate student, is also a streetwise international drug importer and money launderer. Live your life in the shadows and always below the radar – this is the basis for safety, survival and success for Damian and it is an imperative requirement for O/H (opium/hashish) Incorporated operatives and clients. Damian Garcia: PhD Drug Smuggler by Chris Mosquera is a thrilling story about a lucrative international opium and hashish trade by PhD graduate students in New York City in 1972.
Damian Garcia: PhD Drug Smuggler is action adventure fiction at its best. Chris Mosquera has written a story that is undeniably savvy. Characters’ developments are exceptionally detailed and the plot progresses at a perfect pace. Protagonist Damian Garcia definitely fits the description of the title – running a drug business and perfecting it as if it is a highly valuable doctorate. Ironically, as a graduate student, he does not seem to care when he misses his classes. Mr. George Carlin Dog – a real dog from the street that Damian and his friends adopted – is a humorous addition to the family of O/H masterminds. There is also a ‘Robin Hood’ element – minus the stealing – to the group, as they invested their earnings to non-profit humanitarian foundations. Thus, I find it hard to really hate them even though they misuse their intelligence in an illegal activity. This is an enjoyable savoir-faire novel for everyone to read.
