"Deadly Policy" by Mitzi Kelly is the latest in the 'Silver Sleuths Mystery series'. In this book Millie Morrow solicits the assistance of fellow sleuths because of the distress her daughter is facing at her work. There has been a rash of auto thefts around town and Millie's daughter is being blamed for the crimes. She works at an insurance company and nearly all the stolen cars are insured by the company. There is suspicion that this is an inside job and the daughter is the top suspect. Millie is sure that her daughter is being framed and she suspects the daughter's ex-husband is the culprit. Millie needs help from her sleuth friends Edna and Trish, but she also needs assistance and support from the local Chief of Police Henry Espinoza. Because of past intrusions into police investigations, Millie is on the list of persona-non-grata.
As Millie and her cohorts proceed with an investigation of their own, Millie gets deeper and deeper into unknown and dangerous waters. Her actions border on interference and yet, Millie, Edna and Trish seem to be making progress. And furthermore, it is progress that the local police have yet to make. The characters are well-developed and delightful. Although just a tad too predictable, this book will certainly entertain most adults and will particularly appeal to geriatric readers who may envision themselves as curious and adventuresome. Like most of us, Millie will need a lot of stamina and some just plain luck in order to hang with criminals bent on having their way.
