Diary of a Street Princess: The Estella Dior Story is a fast-paced read that will keep the pages turning. Estella Dior holds nothing back and redefines the urban-drama genre with a gritty, grimy story partially based on her own real life experiences. The story centers around Roxie, who began experiencing the harsh realities of street life as young child after being repeatedly molested and raped by her older cousins. By the time she was 17, Roxie was making fast money as a stripper until she met “Face,” a major drug dealer that truly introduced her to the drug game by making her his right-hand. While working with Face, it didn’t take Roxie long to rise to the top of the drug world and become a ‘Street Princess.’ Nonetheless, all good things eventually come to an end. Roxie’s downward spiral begins when she finds herself a victim of Face’s physical abuse, pregnant, caught in a love triangle, and imprisoned after double-crossing Face.
This is a great read that was hard to put down. The story is written from a 1st-person viewpoint and really makes the reader feel as though they’re part of the story. The small character cast gives the reader a chance to truly connect with each character and their inner struggles. Estella Dior has told a story that flows smoothly from beginning to end, and will have no problem holding the attention of teens and young adults alike. The dialogue is authentic, using much of the current slang terms that her younger target audience can and will identify with. Diary of a Street Princess: The Estella Dior Story ends in great style with a major cliffhanger and lingering “what-abouts” that will surely have readers looking for and highly anticipating its sequel.
