Do you like donuts? You are not the only one! Some prehistoric pals also think those round tasty treats are delicious. Dinos Love Donuts by Ben Okon is a rhyming romp about dinosaurs, donuts, and dancing. Donuts are the perfect treat for these prehistoric friends. The hole allows them to keep an eye out for danger, carry their donuts on spikes or horns, and pick them up with sticks if their arms are too short. Donuts are also great for fueling their favorite activity, dancing. Dinosaur dancing is something to behold. Those behemoths shake the world around them. Just make sure that you don't leave those donut holes around. They remind them too much of rocks. Dinos do not like rocks, or do they?
Ben Okon's book Dinos Love Donuts will have kids giggling. Just like Dragons Love Tacos, silliness reigns throughout the story. The illustrations by Komal Sharma show the dinosaurs happily consuming jelly donuts, glazed donuts, and donuts with sprinkles. Kids will recognize some of their favorite dinos like T. Rex, Stegosaurus, and Brontosaurus. Ben has also included some adult humor, especially the ending rock! The pictures are engaging, and bright and enhance the story. Kids are invited into the action, as one dinosaur applauds the kid reading the story for making a gigantic donut for the dinosaurs. A recipe for Dino-mite Asteroid Bites is included at the end. Dinos Love Donuts has all the elements that make it a successful read-aloud. Grab your favorite donut and dance along with the dinosaurs!
