In Dispelling the Myth by Diana Hochman, Miri Nachum went to Vegas with friends to party during the Memorial Day Weekend. She loved using drugs and partying to cope with the big empty hole in her heart. During the party, she started remembering her religious upbringing in a Christian home. She realized she could not run away from her pain and that she needed to change her life. When she was twenty-two, she had decided she would convert to Judaism, and now was the time to do it. Her dream was to go to Israel as she wanted to experience life there and make it her home. She hoped to find love, but her marriage would only be recognized if she converted to Orthodox Judaism. She was so close to what she wanted to achieve, but would she be able to keep up with all the challenges?
The plot in Dispelling the Myth by Diana Hochman is interesting and exciting. I was intrigued from the beginning. I could not put the book down. There were so many twists and turns that I never knew what to expect. The story is fast-paced with enough action to keep it interesting. Miri’s journey kept me on the edge of my seat. I kept turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. I did not want to miss anything. The characters were well developed and credible, and they could easily be people I know. They were introduced in such a way that it never felt as if there were too many of them to remember. Thorough research was done, and the story was well written. I also enjoyed all the information about Judaism.
