Mims Murphy is not your stereotypical romance author. She feels "average" and not overly desirable as a woman, but she enjoys telling stories about irrefutable, passion filled romance. When she meets the model for her latest romance novel, she is reminded that she doesn't fit in the population of "beautiful people". Sage is chiseled...the proverbial "hunk" that sells the cover stories she likes to tell. He is not real in his availability to someone like herself. He belongs to a place surrounded by swim suit models and medically enhanced media stars. Little does she know the real Sage...the real life cowboy and single parent of a teenage daughter. Mims a.k.a. Sarah discovers the "real" Sage when she travels to a dud ranch to research for her current writing venture.
I haven't enjoyed such a read in a long while. Romance novels are so often wound around similar plots and flowery vocabulary, but "Dream Kisses" is a pleasant piece of pastry on a rainy day. It is that forbidden square of chocolate that gives hope to the hopeful romantic. Verna Clay has woven the perfect amount of words into the perfect start to her new series. The plot is believable and a lovely balance of romance and reality. Not an avid romance fanatic myself, I was pleasantly surprised to be irresistibly pulled into the story and am anxious to read more about the characters introduced in this first installment. I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon with Sarah and Sage.
