Endless August by Shelby Rae is the perfect book to cuddle up with when you want something to warm your heart from start to finish. When Dalton returns home from his deployment for the first time in six years, he is prepared to see the woman he loves settled down with someone else. After all, he was told that she wasn’t going to wait for him. After six long years, Savanna finally feels as though she has got her life more or less to where it should be with a good job, good friends, and a great kid. Nothing could have prepared her for the moment Dalton walked back into her life, trying to convince her that this time, he would stay. The stakes are higher, the emotions are bigger, and they both have more to lose.
Shelby Rae has written a perfect summer romance in Endless August. Dalton and Savanna have experienced what seems like a lifetime apart, but their love for each other seeps through the pages and their every action, leaving no doubt in anybody’s mind that they are everything to each other. Through several miscommunication situations, Savanna and Dalton find their footing on very shaky ground. The fast pace matches the intensity of what the two feel for each other. The characters are honest and raw, creating additional depth in every emotional scene. The love that is present throughout the story, between Savannah and Hudson, Dalton and his mom, shows that it is about family and connections just as much as it is about romance. This beautifully written story shows that more than one kind of love is needed in life, and when you have that, rooting for your happily ever after seems so much easier.
