Enemy Closer by AK Weller is an outstanding suspense thriller. Abigail Breckenridge is on the run from her ex-husband and is hiding in a cabin in southwest rural Colorado. It is only a matter of time before he tracks her down. Hiking with her German shepherd, Dude, Abigail spots a wooden cabin. She goes to investigate without Dude and runs into the occupant of the cabin. The man forces her back to her cabin, and the two make a compromise that he stays in the cabin with her. He will provide extra protection for Abigail if her ex-husband finds her. Abigail's ex-husband appears and says he is interested in buying the cabin. The man realizes that the ex-husband is looking for Abigail and pretends that he does not know her. There is no way to tell what happens next without giving away spoilers.
AK Weller planned and executed an extraordinary plot. Enemy Closer is complicated and fast-paced. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. It is a page-turner with lots of action and never a dull moment. Apart from it being a nail-biting experience, with lots of unexpected twists and turns, I never knew what was going to happen next. Without any clues with which to predict the next move, I could not put the book down, not even for a minute. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, there was a major turn of events. Events were so unexpected that everything I had learned up until now was a lie. The characters were superbly developed and robust. This story is brilliantly written and exceeded my expectations. There has to be a follow-up to the way the story ends, and I cannot wait to read it.
