Eroshenko by Lucy May Lennox is a historical tale based on real-life events that transpired during the height of World War 1. This is a fictional account of the life of Vasily Eroshenko, a blind Ukrainian, and Kamichika Ichiko, his Japanese confidant and romantic partner, both of whom evolved to become outspoken socialists in the early 20th century, in Tokyo. Ichiko first meets Eroshenko at the Nakamuraya bakery/salon, which doubles as a meeting place for radical thinkers. She is impressed by his progressive political ideologies and helps him publish his fables. Their socialist kinship transforms into a romantic relationship, intermingled with various highs and lows. Meanwhile, talks of political and social reform rapidly permeate the air in Tokyo. As the people grow more supportive of Eroshenko's ideologies, the authorities attempt to curtail his influence.

If you are eager to uncover the impact of government and police overreach on Eroshenko and Ichiko's relationship and the socialist movement in Tokyo during the early 20th century, grab your copy of this engaging historical novel.
