Ever Present by Patricia Cameron is a deeply personal account of her life’s challenges and the ways she has experienced God’s presence. She recalls the loss of her husband and the grief of losing a child, showing how faith sustained her. She shares moments of divine intervention, like when her son’s bed frame fell from a truck or a storm disrupted a boating trip, reinforcing God’s protection. Cameron speaks on biblical stories of faith, including Gideon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. She shares individual accounts like Lynne, who overcame an abusive marriage, and Pearl, who found healing from childhood trauma. Cameron talks about forgiveness, financial concerns, and fear, illustrating how trust in God brought peace. She shares her father’s determination despite aging and Cary’s resilience after disability. Through real-life and scriptural parallels, faith, perseverance, and God’s unwavering presence come to light.
With conversational prose and a lot of connecting the dots spiritually, Ever Present by Patricia Cameron offers a genuinely heartfelt overview of turning one's self and placing trust in God. Part memoir, part testimonial, and part devotional, Cameron does well in pulling together a series of personal stories with the result being that some complex spiritual lessons feel intimate and relatable. Rather than offering easy answers, Cameron acknowledges the human battle with control and uncertainty, and this makes her messaging all the more powerful. I found the raw vulnerability of personal trials to the triumph of seeing prayers answered in unexpected ways to be the book's greatest strength and driver of authenticity. Cameron doesn’t just preach patience; she invites readers into her journey of learning to trust. Ultimately, this book is a fantastic reminder that waiting on God is never wasted, but rather a path to deeper faith and spiritual renewal. Very highly recommended.
