The insightful and delightful book, “50 Ways to Greater Well Being and Happiness” by Robert Pawlicki, is not your typical self-help book. The book is formatted in short paragraphs outlining fifty ‘exercises’ to consider when making your life happier and healthier. The book is designed to be read slowly, considering the advice within the pages and applying the ideas and principles to your own life. For example, #26 in the book, 'The Value of Stress', discusses and provides examples of how stress can actually be a positive factor in your life. When dealing with stressful situations, the author challenges us to look at these situations as ‘valuable learning experiences’. Instead of looking at stress as the great big negative, stress can, in fact, make us stronger and reveal hidden abilities.
Since I adore self-help books, I was immediately drawn to the title of this book. I enjoy reading meditation-type books that give you something to consider in a few short pages. “50 Ways to Greater Well Being and Happiness” does just that. The book is full of fresh and new ideas to ponder on finding more happiness in your life. I was happy just reading this book and greatly enjoyed the different considerations that the author contributed. Although there are many books of this type and style on the market today, I was thrilled that Pawlicki offered some new refreshing insights. It is well-written and thoughtful. I felt as though I had just left my therapist's office after reading only a few of these exercises.
