In Fightgirl, author Tony Clark takes us to Sharpsburg, Ohio where we meet Peggy Devlin, a struggling young lawyer; Jessie Strick, the heroine, a girl of many talents; and the evil, rich Mayor Hackman and mob boss Bazzano. Jessie arrives in town with a lot of money and a plan to stop Mayor Hackman from controlling the entire city with the help of his buddy Bazzano. Jessie hires Peggy to be her lawyer and the two quickly become friends. Jessie has many plans on how to fix the city; some by doing good in helping the people who live in Sharpsburg with money, favors and fighting the bad guys. When she decides to run against Hackman for Mayor, the excitement really begins. He is furious that anyone dares to oppose him and will stop at nothing to get rid of Jessie. However, Jessie finds many ways to rally the people who have long been under the Mayor’s control, and she offers them a very different alternative.

The crime and adventure keep Fightgirl rapidly moving forward with great exciting reading. Fightgirl has a good plot and lots of stuff going on from beginning to end that will keep you wanting to read on. I enjoyed this book. Fightgirl is written with lots of components pitting good people against bad in surprising and sometimes scary ways. Tony Clark expertly wrote a crime story that looks into the ways of people, government and so much more. While there was some violence and anger, there was also some caring and love towards people, making this a very good story. Fightgirl must be read to be fully appreciated because it is a story that will not disappoint.
