Finding Grace: Regaining My Vision and Soul by Anne R. Davidson is a heart-rending memoir. She survived neglect and abuse by her own parents, and details how she was rescued and saved by African-Americans who raised her. It is the story of a child who found solace and peace in the hands of a loving caregiver while living with heartless parents. The story takes you through the different stages of the author’s life, from that of an abused child supported by a nurturing caregiver in a dysfunctional family, to her healing as an adult through psychotherapy, to finding love and grace in her life. The book is highly inspirational. The journey definitely did not look easy while reading and that was what made this memoir so worthwhile.

It is an engrossing story that shows the grit and determination of a person to survive the depressive phases in her life and emerge triumphant. The story also throws light on the dark side of human life that exists in the world and how people can ruin the lives of others with their abusive behavior. The book also speaks about the power of healing through love and dance and creativity. This book is a must-read for everyone who has gone through this kind of experience because it inspires them to live in a healthy and positive way and bring about changes in their minds. The book spreads awareness in the minds of readers about the kind of society we live in.
