Megan has decided that she is finally moving on from her life as a victim at the hands of her ex-husband Derek. Unfortunately before Megan can make it to the safety of the one person in the world she can trust, her brother Matt, he dies. Matt’s death takes her to the small town of Pride, Oregon where she meets a delightful cast of characters that include siblings Lacy, Lian, and Todd Jordan. Although determined not to ever depend on anyone or fall in love, Megan finds herself relying on her small town friends and falling for the stoic Todd. Jill Sanders paints a portrait of two very sober characters that have been through hell and while both have survived, it has been in a state of guarded semi-survival.
The attraction between Megan and Todd is there from the moment she spots his mysterious presence at the cemetery and it slowly builds over time before their first kiss. The buildup was written beautifully and within character for both parties. Jill Sanders does more than tell us just how damaged this couple is; we see it in the hesitancy of the early interactions and the self-doubt that pops up on occasion. The sex scenes are steamy but not explicit and throughout Finding Pride you just feel happy that these two people are able to feel happy and satisfied again.
This isn't a fast-paced story but it is filled with emotion and drama. Finding Pride is a quiet journey from heartache and despair to love and happiness and I’m honored to have traveled that journey with Todd and Megan.
