In evaluating a book, I aim to understand what the author is trying to say. In 5 Steps to Breaking Free from Porn, I am convinced Joe Dallas is sincere in his belief that any porn is evil and is against God’s plans for humans. From that standpoint, the way he has organized and presented his small book is excellent.

From the "Introduction" to the last brief chapter on “Knowing God,” the author consistently uses the Bible as incontestable proof of what God wants. Each of the five steps begins with "Positioning Scriptures" - biblical quotes. Principles such as “If you can, you will,” are developed to prove the dangers of making the wrong choices. "Practices" gives the reader very specific things to do to help him resist his irresistible craving to use porn. Finally, the author ends each chapter with a prayer to be used whenever necessary to get the support the person needs. From a teaching perspective this is educationally sound. It makes the book easier and clearer for readers.

From the above, it makes sense to give Joe Dallas 5 stars. For anyone who believes in the Bible and New Testament, and that viewing porn is evil; or is struggling with guilt about masturbation, this book could help.
