Cordell Logan is an ex-Air Force Pilot, ex-Special Operations soldier and now an occasional flight instructor. He is also an aspiring Buddhist. When his beautiful ex-wife, Savannah, shows up and tells him that her husband has been murdered in Los Angeles he is somewhat pleased. Savannah's late husband was Arlo Echevarria, the man she left him for.

Logan and Echevarria were once assigned to a top-secret military assassination team known as "Alpha." Against his better judgment, Logan gets sucked into investigating the case. As much as possible he uses his Cessna 172, to follow the killer’s trail from the mean streets of Oakland to the Las Vegas Strip, from the Arizona desert to Russian Mafia haunts in West Los Angeles. Eventually, he gets too close to truth. But, a little thing like being targeted isn’t about to stop him from searching for the truth. Plus, maybe there are still some feelings for his ex-wife.

All I can say is, "wow". For a first novel this one is outstanding. Action-adventure, mystery, death and destruction, what more could a discerning reader want! The author has put together a great story. Outstanding characters like his ex-wife, his Jewish octogenarian landlady, the usual assortment of overworked police officers and, of course, his standoffish cat. The dialog is first rate, I even found myself laughing out loud a couple of times. The plot was great and moved along at a pace to keep the reader wanting more. If you are looking for a superb read, then you can’t go wrong here.
