With no other choice, Alexa heads to Los Angeles with her daughter in tow to see if Jackson Matthews can, and will, offer his expertise. Forever Alexa is a complex tale of long lost love, intrigue, and the secrets we keep. As Jackson and Alexa try to ignore the spark of attraction that has never faded, they must also navigate through a seedy underworld to find Abby before it is too late. Cate Beauman does a great job of building up suspense and showing us the tension between the main characters and breaking it up with the almost too adorable Olivia. The one problem I have is that Alexa is difficult to like. She attempts to insert herself into the investigation, at her and her daughter’s peril, when she has highly trained professionals on the job. At times I just wanted to shake some sense into her, but to Beauman’s credit it added a heightened sense of mystery and intrigue to the story. By the time you reach the end, a stiff drink will be needed to get your heart rate back to normal!
