In Frizzy Tizzy Cleans Up by Wendy Hinbest, Frizzy Tizzy gets to have a new adventure. She loves playing with all of her toys, including her blocks and dolls. But her favorite toy of all is her toy laptop that lets her press buttons that have letters on them. When she presses a button, the little toy laptop sings about colors and objects. Frizzy Tizzy liked to sing along to her little laptop. When Frizzy Tizzy is hungry, she goes to see what her mom is making for lunch. Her mom is making grilled cheese, one of Frizzy Tizzy’s favorites. Frizzy Tizzy eats and then her friend Emma comes over and asks if Frizzy Tizzy wants to play outside. Before she can go outside, she has to pick up her toys first. Frizzy Tizzy doesn’t want to clean up her toys though. She cries because she wants to go play and clean up her toys later.
This book is great for teaching your kids to do things that they would fight you tooth and nail if you asked them to do it. They will learn that before going off to play they have to clean up whatever mess they made first. It is a great lesson for kids who don’t like to follow the rules. They will see what Frizzy Tizzy does and do what she does. Minus the crying part though. If I were a child, this story would have inspired me to be nice to my parents and always pick up my toys so that I could go play. I love how Frizzy Tizzy is a sweetheart and always wants to play, but understands that she cannot play without picking up her toys first. If only all kids were as sweet and understanding as Frizzy Tizzy.
