From Light to Darkness to Glory by Bob Bienvenu is an engaging and uplifting memoir that gives hope and encouragement to many readers out there who have been struggling with mental and physical health issues. It shows them not to let their circumstances come in the way of pursuing their dreams. Mental illnesses are devastating and can affect a person emotionally, physically, and socially as well. This book explains the different aspects of the author's life and his growing up in an upper-middle-class family in a closed community where everyone knew each other. His schizophrenia manifested when he was drafted into the army and this memoir is all about him keeping his complete faith in Jesus so he could lead a good, happy, and productive life.

From Light to Darkness to Glory is honest and brave and tells readers how God is an excellent teacher in dealing with life. It also speaks about living on a daily basis with a mental health issue. Bob Bienvenu says it would have been really difficult to deal with his schizophrenia, depression, and obsessions without the presence of God, his Savior in life. He reiterates the presence and power of God in everybody's lives and his realization that the only relationship that lasts forever is one with God. It is encouraging for readers who find themselves in similar situations like the author; to see how he picked up the pieces of his life all over again by learning to trust in the Lord.
