A desire to visit the seven continents seems to be the motivation behind From Tibet To Egypt. Jeremiah A. Gilbert details each of his unique trips starting from an enterprising trip to Tibet, visiting monasteries of note, and taking beautiful pictures along the way. Soon after this, trips to other locations follow with each of them sharing their secrets with him. Follow Jeremiah A. Gilbert's adventures through the jungles of Central America and as he explores the hidden treasures of Armenia, just to name a few locations. Mixed-up flight arrangements and unscrupulous locals make up part of his adventure. No one can tell this story better than the person who experienced it himself and this is what he does with amazing clarity.
From Tibet To Egypt: Early Travels After a Late Start by Jeremiah A. Gilbert is an interesting travelogue, filled with very specific details of adventures in exotic locations and meeting with some of the most unique people to populate this beautiful planet of ours. The details in each adventure are as unique as they are revealing. I was so engrossed in several of the stories, I did not notice the time passing. The adventures in the desert, with an uncooperative camel, stood out for me as I couldn't help but see the amusing side of this. I was a bit disappointed that despite several photographs across so many adventures, there are sadly no pictures to go with the amazing first-hand accounts. It is, however, satisfying to see that Jeremiah A. Gilbert ends up with more than just memories on paper as a reward for his travels. A thoroughly enjoyable book.
