Author Biography

Wilbert Stanton was born and raised in New York City. From an early age, Wilbert decided he would either write books or take over the world; everything else was just a precursor to his end game.

Along the way, he has studied Psychology, English, and Computer Science. He's held jobs in a wide range of fields and met people from all walks of life. Wilbert is constantly learning and growing as a person, in order to solidify his dreams.

In the end, world domination was a bit tedious, so he decided to focus on writing books.

Zak Walker, a fringe rat living on the outskirts of the slums and doing dangerous labour to look after his sister, could never imagine the plan fate has for him. He only wanted to protect his sister. Since their mother left, his father is a mean and violent drunk, and Zak had sworn to look after Alice. But the distance he must go to keep this vow will surprise even him. The day Seneca appeared was the start of his twisted path. His sister vanishes, spirited away to Earth, a place now abandoned by the gods and left to the Fey. Zak must unite the gods, but to do so he must pull Zeus from his fractured state by retrieving something stolen from him by his treacherous son, Ares. Earth is not like it was in the time of the gods. Now it is nothing more than a hunting ground of rivalry and survival, a honey trap; pretty, but deadly to those who don't know how to look after themselves. Can Zak survive in a place where trust can be a death sentence, and keep his promise to protect his sister? Find out in Gears of Fate: Forgotten Gods, Book One by Wilbert Stanton.

Gears of Fate put me in mind of Percy Jackson meets The Golden Compass and Disney's Treasure Island. There's a steampunk element that I found charming. Seneca's character reminded me of one of my favourite characters from Tales of Vesperia. As a gamer and fantasy lover, not to mention a lover of Greek gods and mythos, this book ticked a lot of my boxes. Well written, engrossing, imaginative, gripping, and fun. You'll find yourself lost in a world of dangers, where nothing is quite what it appears. Wilbert Stanton has a talent for world building and character development and creates believable relationships, technologies, adaptations, and content, fleshing out an amazing world. A great start to what promises to be a gripping series.

Gears of Fate is the first book and a spellbinding entry in the Forgotten Gods series by Wilbert Stanton, a young adult fantasy with strong elements of mythology. This is a story that makes readers dream, a story that plunges them into a world of conspiracy and war between the gods, a story as entertaining as it is well-written. Readers encounter characters like Zak Walker, whose only interest in life is to protect his sister, Alice, but when Alice gets kidnapped, he starts thinking about the gravity of stories he has heard from Seneca, another forgotten god left on earth and who is looking forward to the encounter with the powerful Fey. Note that the gods have all retreated to Olympus after the Fey conquered and subdued earth. But now, someone is ready to unite the forgotten gods who live miserably on earth to rise up as a strong force against the Fey. But does Zak still have enough fight left to protect what really matters to him?

Plotted with a lot of skill and cunning, this novel has everything that would entice fans of young adult fantasy. The characters are strong and well-developed; each comes with a world of troubles and readers will enjoy how each character evolves through the conflict. Familiar names like Zeus and Odin are featured in this lovely tale and readers will love the roles they play in the story. This is a work of great imagination, developed to delight readers and take them away from the doldrums of their daily lives. Gears of Fate by Wilbert Stanton is spellbinding, the kind of story not to start when you have a lot of things to do. A work of great entertainment!

Gears of Fate: Forgotten Gods Book 1 by Wilbert Stanton is a stunning young adult novel about a boy named Zak. Because the humans and gods lost a war against the fey, they have been forced to live on Olympus, never going to Earth. Gods walk among the humans, forgotten. But that all changes for Zak when a princess of the fey, named Seneca, shows up, and the Unseelie attack the Seelie. Soon, Zak's sister is kidnapped, and he is roped into an adventure that takes him to Earth to rescue his sister and to return the Aegis to Zeus. With another war on the horizon, can Zak rescue his sister and save the world from the Unseelie?

I really, really enjoyed reading Gears of Fate by Wilbert Stanton. The book is extremely well written and I loved that it combines many different myths. The story is very exciting and extremely suspenseful. There are also some very funny lines, mostly said by Seneca. The story is fast paced and very exciting, with many thrilling scenes that will make the reader gasp out loud, as well as many heartwarming scenes. The characters are all very likeable, because they are brave and caring. The characters are also inspiring, and readers will find themselves looking up to and wanting to be like them. I was hooked by the first page and I did not want to put the book down. I can't wait to read other books in the series! This book is absolutely breathtaking. I would definitely recommend this title to everyone.
