Do you know who you are? Do you know anything about your family history? Did you know that genealogy is about family history, the story of family and the tracing of historical lineage? Gianna Saldana had the passion to learn all about her family’s history in Gianna the Treasure Hunter (Gianna the Great, Volume 3) by Becky Villareal. Through the after-school Genealogy Club led by Mr. Williams, she was able to learn about her relatives via online websites and research information. Gianna was able to turn this passion into helping others in her school, including helping Stephanie and her grandmother to learn all about the family’s journey from France to Ellis Island. Watch Gianna and Stephanie as they embark on a treasure hunt to learn about Stephanie’s family.
This is a wonderful book and I believe that everyone, especially children, needs to be aware of their lineage, history, and background. Learning about your family and its history does wonders for a child’s self-esteem and self-worth. This book will take your child on an adventure that they’ve never experienced before as they walk in the shoes of Gianna and Stephanie on a treasure hunt, starting from a conversation with Stephanie’s grandmother which sparked their interest, and looking at the family records at Ellis Island to discovering the ‘family’ book. Pick up a copy of Gianna the Treasure Hunter and find out more about the book and the other treasures that the girls discovered on this genealogy search. Great story - I really loved it.
