Good Boy, Nacho! by Kristine N. McQuown is a beautiful children’s story about the exciting adventures of a boy and his lovely pet and best friend. After begging his parents for a while, Benny’s parents finally let him choose a pet. At first, he cannot decide. Should he pick a cat, a bird, or a frog? In the end, he settles for a dog. Two weeks later, he goes with his parents to select the dog he wants to adopt. He chooses a curious Chihuahua who he names Nacho, a unique and charming name for his friend. Life with Nacho is exciting. Every day, Benny and his four-legged friend have new adventures. Nacho gets into trouble sometimes, but he is the best friend Benny could have asked for.
Good Boy, Nacho! by Kristine N. McQuown includes many activities that children will love trying out with their pets. Benny takes Nacho to meet his friends. Nacho also plays with other dogs and Benny teaches him some tricks. Nacho is a great addition to the family and everyone loves him, especially Gram who spoils him. The illustrations are colorful and funny. One image shows Benny covered in Nacho’s hair. Photographs of the real-life Nacho are included, the dog who is the inspiration behind the story. A comprehensive to-do list includes various main activities such as feeding, playing, and walking that are essential in taking care of a pet. It will help pet owners remember ways to take great care of their pets. A weekly chore chart to help children keep track of the chores they need to do is also added.
