Good Night, I Love You, written and illustrated by Julie Barta, is a children’s book that brings the bond between parent and child alive within its pages. The story is about Petr and his journey into adulthood and becoming a parent himself. He learns the importance of always telling the people in your life that you love them and how this vital lesson is carried over to your children. When Petr loses someone significant to him, he finds solace through the essential lessons he learned as a child. With mystical elements and beautiful illustrations, this book will be enjoyed by any child as a lovely bedtime story with an important lesson to be learned. This book should be read to children by their parents as it will surely strengthen their bond.

Reading Good Night, I Love You brought my attention to how short life is and how important it is to always tell the special people in your life that you love them. You never know when it might be the last time. The pictures are enjoyable, and I especially liked seeing how the main character grew up to be a father as well. Telling someone you love them is something that people don’t always realize is extremely important. We go about our hectic lives and forget the most important thing. I hope this book will remind anybody who reads it, child or adult, that they need to stop and remember to tell someone they love them. Nothing in this world is more important.
