Grandma Banana's Pet Pachyderm by Sabrena Lozo is a fun picture book for young children. One day Olly visits his Grandma Banana Ba Dooda Ba Da Da Spinach Frittata, also known as Grandma Banana for short, and asks what she's been up to. Grandma Banana reveals something that excites Olly - she had a pet Pachyderm. Olly has many questions, mainly what is a Pachyderm? Olly begins to ask questions that will help him figure out the answer he desperately wants. He wonders if the Pachyderm is big, small, slimy, or even smelly. After many more questions and with Grandma Banana answering them, Olly finally discovers what pet his Grandma has. Can you guess what it is?
Grandma Banana's Pet Pachyderm will confuse and intrigue the reader in an enthralling way as it will have them asking the question "What is a Pachyderm?" I had never heard of a Pachyderm until I stumbled across this book and was just as curious as Olly. Sabrena Lozo has created a story that will grab young readers' attention from the very first page, and as well as entertaining them, they will also be educated on the meaning behind the word. At first, I thought Pachyderm was just a made-up word that the author chose and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it isn't made up at all. If the curiosity around the Pachyderm isn't enough to pique your interest, then the unique illustrations by the author will certainly change that. This picture book is full of fun, adventure, and imagination, making it the perfect bedtime story.
