Treat yourselves to a hilarious rhyming tale of a mother and her young son with Guess What I've Just Seen? Written by Mickie B and illustrated by Francesca Watt, this picture book opens with a young boy named Charlie sitting down to have his favorite fresh fruit and crackers for lunch. Meanwhile, Charlie's mom is having her bread roll with salad and cheese when Charlie asks her if she can guess what he has just seen. Mum starts guessing as to what Charlie could've seen, including a scratch of fleas kicking a pea, a little mouse chasing a cat, a happy hyena laughing, and more. Her guesses become wilder with each attempt. At last, Charlie reveals what he had just seen, shocking his mom and leading her to reconsider what she had just eaten.
Guess What I've Just Seen? is a fun-filled picture book that follows an amusing conversation between a mother and her young son in rhyme. Author Mickie B's tale is filled with humor and heart, featuring catchy rhyming verses that young readers can sing out loud. The depictions of Charlie and his mum are very quirky. Both characters have a witty and light-hearted flavor to their dialogue, which makes their interactions not only entertaining but also very heartwarming. The narrative, at its core, is comedic, with a surprising punchline at the end. Francesca Watt's colorful illustrations are another draw of this picture book. They add so much personality to the characters and make them even more endearing to the reader. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend parents introduce it to their young children!
