I Love the Color Pink! The Adventures of Laci Macasey is written by Monica Hatley-Carr, the momma of real life Laci Macasey. Laci Macasey loves pink, she wears it from head to toe. One day, she makes a wish that the entire world was pink, and is surprised to find that her wish comes true. It turns out that Pinki the fairy was listening and decided to share pink with the world, but Laci might just start missing all the other colors too. The story is told in cute, simple rhymes that will be fun little melodies to children's ears.
One of the biggest visual choices of the book was, of course, the use of the color pink. I don't want to play too much into gender roles, but any pink loving girl or boy is going to be THRILLED by this book. I would have carted it around with me for days when I was a child, hopping from my frosting pink Barbie dream house to my hot pink comforter and more.
An added bonus was Hatley-Carr's choice in including photos of the real family that the book was based on. Though these didn't add to the story, it gave the book in general that pinch of something extra that makes you really get invested in a book. Children's books are so small, it's easy to just read through them and forget, but the addition of an actual family really makes it meaningful and more likely to stay on your bookshelf for the days to come. This was a fun and cute story that I would love to share with my nieces and nephews.
