I’ve read a lot of parenting books, but Keep Your Cool: Anger Management for Parents by Olivia Tanner Greene is a total knock-out. Usually, books about temper and triggers can feel a bit shaming, but the affirmational tone in this book is a breath of fresh air. It’s a very sophisticated look at the biology of why we lose our cool. There was a satisfying click for me when Greene explained the neurological connection between our own past experiences and how we react to our kids in the heat of the moment. The formatting and pacing are also spot-on—it makes a heavy topic feel manageable rather than overwhelming. For anyone looking for a "linguistic fix" that actually offers a path to a calmer home, this book is a must-read.
What really sold me on Keep Your Cool is how practical the "Proven Strategies" actually are for real-world parenting. As a parent myself, I found the educational depth here to be incredible, and I know I’ll be referencing these chapters from time to time when things get hectic. Olivia Tanner Greene doesn't just tell you to "stop yelling"; she gives you a research-backed toolkit to actually manage your emotions before they boil over. The whole book is like a restorative deep dive into family dynamics, and the social value of creating a more connected home is just undeniable. If you want a guide that is as empathetic as it is effective, you need to pick this up. It is a pure gem of a book.
