Author Biography

JJ Robinson loves creating stories that illustrate the unseen and magical world of children, and bring to life the imagination and whimsy of all people, small and big alike.
Her habit of bringing every creature vividly to life in her imagination carries over to her writing, where even a watering can, or an odd shaped thimble has a name and a story to tell.
She has a special love for insects (which are just small versions of people) and ducks (which have all the sassy attitude of people) and she spends most nights on her patio with a flash light; watching the ocean of life that is normally hidden during the day, crawl, hop, and fly around before her.
Her goal is to write books that people of all ages can read and enjoy, and maybe find a deeper meaning or two cleverly hidden behind the adventure.

Kimu and the Sun by J J Robinson is a cute picture book about Kimu and his bid to be the best. As the sun reached the end of her day, she sank lower until she lay across the sea, not expecting what would happen next. A man called Kimu lay in wait, and when the time was right, he captured the sun in a special bottle. Instead of being angry, the sun tells Kimu that there are other, trickier creatures to catch and teaches him how. But Kimu underestimates the sun and finds that one creature is not so easy to catch after all. Can Kimu outsmart the creature?

Kimu and the Sun by J J Robinson is a fun read for young children with some lovely, colorful illustrations. On the outside, this is a simple story of one man’s bid to be the most powerful by capturing all sorts of creatures. But it also has a deeper meaning. It teaches children that they should strive for what they want but that greed can only lead to their downfall. The characters—human or otherwise—are thoroughly likable; kids will love the sun character, and so too will the adults who read it to their children, possibly even relating to one or more of the characters; hunter or hunted. Books like this make great bedtime stories for kids but should also be read in schools; that’s where kids learn a great deal about how to face life. This book is the perfect balance of education and enjoyment.
