In Late Night With Bear Brown by Artsoluki, the author uses an interview with a TV host asking an actress about her next movie. The author uses beautiful drawings to tell a delightful story about an actress called Fabulous Amy Fox. The storyline is a very simple one about a naughty fox that goes on a crime spree. But the fox is so entranced with social media that she keeps posting about what she is doing and cannot understand how, at every stage of her adventure, the cops are waiting. Amy the Fox has many adventures as she tries to get away from the cops.
The illustrations in Late Night With Bear Brown are very good and will remind the person reading the story of some of the available graphic novels. Each picture on each page has enough information about the story and the naughty fox that allows the reader to also make up their own tale about the naughty fox and what she does. Artsoluki also offers a lesson to a young reader on how careful one must be when going onto social media as well as to the adult reader of the book at storytime. The breakaway from putting the writing in bubbles when the characters are speaking is very unusual and makes an interesting change. I shared this tale of the naughty fox with my grandson and to see the drawings and story through his eyes. It was amazing to see how quickly a child will add words and actions to a picture. We both enjoyed it and felt the drawings enhanced this simple tale.
