With this autobiographical manga, Kenny Loui presents the second volume of Life Lessons from a UFO Catcher. This time, Kenny's twin sisters, Jinny and Sammy, join him on his adventures as they try to set him up with a girlfriend after a string of bad dates. The book opens with Dr. Gerry changing the name of his store from Dr. Gerry's Game Zone to Games R Us. Meanwhile, twins Jinny and Sammy convince Kenny to go out with the piano teacher's assistant, Jessica, who helps Mrs. Lee with piano lessons. Reluctantly, Kenny agrees to their request and meets Jessica, who seems to share a few similar interests. However, the one thing they disagree upon is whether the plushie Riarukuma that Kenny rescued is a cat or a bear, and it turns out to be a big deal.
Get ready for a healthy dose of fun, comedy, and silly adventures with Life Lessons from a UFO Catcher: Vol. II. Author Kenny Loui has an ingenious way of telling slice-of-life stories inspired by his own experiences. These tales are so engaging and entertaining to read, especially with the manga-style narrative packed with vibrant illustrations that breathe life into the characters. This book is a collection of interconnected short stories centered around Kenny and his friends and family and the amusing adventures they get into. The twins, Jinny and Sammy, have bigger roles to play in this installment. I found the dynamic with their brother very relatable and hilarious. Readers will also learn some Korean lessons from Somi, Kenny's spirit guardian. Overall, it's a fantastic comic book for kids and young adults.
