Meet Little Miss Grubby Toes. Most times, she is a good little girl. But sometimes, she disobeys her parents, which gets her into big trouble. One morning, Father shares some fascinating news. He will take her to the frontier village to watch a reenactment of how people used to live long ago. He makes her promise she will stay close to him during their time in the village. When they eventually arrive, Little Miss Grubby Toes promises she will not leave the playground area. After she zooms down slides, rides the seesaw, and jumps in potato sacks, she follows the other bigger kids to the petting zoo without telling Father. Here, she holds a cute piglet. But the piglet wriggles out of her arms and runs off. Little Miss Grubby Toes keeps running through the village gate trying to catch it. When she stops to look around, she doesn't recognize where she is. She calls Father, but loud drum noises drown her voice. Suddenly, a big thud erupts behind her! Will Little Miss Grubby Toes find her way back to safety? Read Little Miss Grubby Toes Gets Lost! by Eddie Price to find out.
The best stories immerse us in a new setting and connect us to the characters. Eddie Price surpasses this standard, ensuring we understand the underlying conditions and the characters' motivations. I was impressed by Price's characterization of Father. He is essential to the story's thematic development and plot progression. He is also a good role model for parents regarding the importance of creating time for their children and guiding them when they go astray. The plot is peppered with simple twists, resulting in a suspenseful and satisfying ending. The setting descriptions were excellent and sure to engage both children and adults. The adventure gets more exciting at the frontier village. Here, we meet more wonderful characters. There is even a blacksmith present who uses his hammer to turn hot iron into horseshoes. Young readers aged 3 to 7 will enjoy these special moments of adventure more with the help of an adult. With so much to offer, Little Miss Grubby Toes Gets Lost! by Eddie Price is a must-read for children of all ages. It will also be a favorite for adults who enjoy children's literature. Highly recommended.
