Alicia Connected: Lost and Found by Derek Fisher is a lovely children’s story about Alicia’s experience living in a world of technology. Alicia and her friends love playing the game TullyTown. Through this, they send each other messages and explore the town with their avatars. When Alicia and her family go on a long weekend to the lake, her dad and mom have a no-technology rule for most of the weekend. During this time, Alicia receives a friend request from someone she does not know. Soon, this new friend on TullyTown becomes a cyberstalker. With the help of her dad, the cyberstalker is blocked. Alicia later learns they are in contact with Megan and want to meet her. Alicia immediately feels uneasy, but how can she help her friend?

Alicia Connected by Derek Fisher teaches children who live in the age of technology the dangers that sometimes come with the internet. The story has different subplots that keep things interesting and teach children that they do not always need technology to have fun. As a parent, the lessons taught within Alicia Connected are immensely important. Young children should understand that not everyone on the internet who may be friendly is their friend. Alicia is a character anyone can relate to, and learning lessons through her experiences makes for fun lessons learned. When my daughter is old enough, I will have her read the Alicia Connected series to ensure she knows what to expect from the internet and the outside world.
