Lost Beneath the Tide by Zara West presents a riveting tale about love with a thrilling, spine-chilling twist. Cat Silva is a highly driven marine biologist who hopes her research on salmon farm pollution will help advance her career. Her path leads her to Tide Harbor in Nova Scotia, where she hopes to collect seawater and find out if it is polluted. Here, she meets Alex Harris and she finds herself entertaining feelings of attraction for him, despite his stern demeanor. Alex, who works for Cowling Fish Farms, is instructed to keep an eye on Cat, the newbie scuba diver. However, Alex and Cat begin to unravel each other's stories and interests while they face the chaos of conflicting emotions and confront dangerous, buried truths.
The characters are unique and likable. Cat's colorful hairstyles and bold T-shirt prints make her appear animated and spontaneous. Though Alex is more solemn and cautious, their chemistry is quite compelling. Lost Beneath the Tide offers a memorable romantic read with its captivating elements, like its appealing dialogue and scenes. I found myself smiling and lost in blissful memories as I read the characters' impressions of each other, including Alex's thoughts about Cat being "so beautiful, so full of enthusiasm for life." However, the romance theme is balanced well with chaotic events that result in an exciting, suspenseful novel. From murder suspicions to a survival struggle and shocking secrets, this book is a brilliant mix of engaging elements. Lost Beneath the Tide by Zara West is expertly written and perfect for fans of romantic tales and readers who need a worthwhile escape.
