Kasandra and her sister Maria had moved from Brazil to Hartford, Connecticut and they have settled well into the new place and their new school, MaryEllen Bay Middle School. Kasandra and her friends, John, Shakira, and Darling, have been recruited to Animal Guard, a secret organization where they have to travel the globe together to save animals and their habitats from all sorts of dangers. The biggest dangers are Crow and Vulture, the former members of the group. Magic Charms: The Kangaroo Kraze, Book Two by Louise Marie Miller takes young readers to the Australian Outback along with Kasandra, John, Shakira, and Darling who have to save a mob of kangaroos from villains Crow and Vulture. Will they succeed in their mission?
The author combines normalcy with fantasy, intrigue, suspense, mystery, and friendship in the plot of Magic Charms: The Kangaroo Kraze, just like Book One, and takes readers on an adventurous journey aboard a ship. The narration is detailed and descriptive and there is an element of surprise as the story progresses that will keep readers glued to the pages. The vivid portrayals will take readers right into the scenes along with the characters, making the story palpable and real for them. All the characters, be it Miss Kalisto, Agent Martin, Keith, Mojo, and the others, complement the main characters nicely, and readers will also enjoy learning about the animals in the Australian outback: koala bears, kookaburras, one of the native birds of Australia, and kangaroos.
