Manage My Meditation: Seven Days to a Powerful Tool for Success and Transformation is an instructional manual for learning how to meditate. Author Kenneth Martz, Psy.D., has been meditating for more than 20 years and says the practice is his favorite tool. Martz explains why people should meditate and how to do so. He explains that meditation provides numerous benefits, including overcoming negative emotions, developing positive traits, and improving physical health. He walks readers step-by-step through the practice of meditation. The book also includes a “troubleshooting” chapter for those who may run into problems. Each chapter ends with a summary and homework. There are numerous other resources referenced, including Martz’s website (he provides a coupon for free information) and his Facebook page.
Manage My Meditation: Seven Days to a Powerful Tool for Success and Transformation is a fine teaching tool. Because I knew virtually nothing about meditation almost all the material was new to me. However, Kenneth Martz, Psy.D., writes in easy-to-understand language so even those who have no previous background will clearly understand his methods. It’s an excellent primer for anyone who is new to the practice of meditation. What impressed me the most is Martz’s wide-ranging knowledge, his enthusiasm for his topic, and his obvious love of passing on this information to others. Although the book is for those new to mediation, I’m confident that even people who have engaged in the practice before will learn something new and get their commitment to mediation strengthened. I recommend Martz’s well-written book.
