Marlon and the Wide World is the third book in the award-winning series Marlon's Marvelous Adventures. This time, Dan Bailes tells how Marlon ran away from home. Marlon finds his little puffy toy in pieces one morning and is convinced that his brother, Albert, tore it up. When he confronts his brother about it, they get into a fight. Unfortunately, Momma Cat isn't on Marlon's side and scolds him for biting and scratching his brother. He decides to go into the wide world, thinking his family will be happy without him. Marlon knows that he leaves behind yummy food, a warm place to sleep, great toys, a sweet, peaceful life, and his friends. Yet, a bird, dog, and a momma raccoon and her kits are about to become part of his adventures in the wide world. Why did Albert shred his beloved toy?
This gripping furry feline adventure is about a cat who never gives up, stands up for himself, believes in himself, and learns that he should not be jealous of anyone. I enjoyed it very much as I'm a big fan of cats and raccoons. The story centers around friendship, courage, jealousy, anger, forgiveness, reconciliation, and finding your way. With fabulous illustrations that perfectly complement the story's sentiment and beautiful adventures, Marlon and the Wide World will appeal to cat and raccoon lovers of all ages. This cozy cat adventure shows how jealousy can take over thoughts and make you feel small and angry. Dan Bailes delivers the message that changing your point of view can make all the difference in your reaction to situations.
