When next she visits, Paul is making plans for Mary's departure from London, planning and organising without her knowledge. Mary's salvation was the most important mission of his life, her entire future hung in the balance, and he wanted nothing more than to see her happy. He thought he had planned for every eventuality, but if that were the case, why did Mary's ghost have a tale to tell?
