There is more to Me, My Bible, My Liquor and My Steak Fries (A Self Explanatory, Self Help, No Help Book) by Deviled Tongue than first meets the eye. Tongue introduces himself and talks about how he struggled while growing up, and then his love of big girls. He then turns to talking about his own spiritual beliefs. He also shares some of his creative art, as well as that of his daughter. He then begins a discussion of how the church and clergy seem to profit from tithes and gifts rather than using that money for humanitarian needs. He challenges our perceptions of people who preach on the subway or who say that they talk to their dead loved ones. Are they really crazy? He discusses the Ten Commandments and how they are often ignored or passed off as out of date. He continues discussing the evils of liquor from personal experience and winds up talking about steak fries.
Me, My Bible, My Liquor and My Steak Fries is actually a thought provoking book that challenges many of the things that we simply believe and accept by tradition. Tongue stirs up the reader into an examination of these things and offers his book as a jumping off point for continued thought and discussions about culture, language, love and morality in a rather off the wall, but effective way. Thought provoking, humorous and in a sense inspiring, Me, My Bible, My Liquor and My Steak Fries (A Self Explanatory, Self Help, No Help Book) might actually be the self help book that it’s claiming not to be.
