Jason Elam and Steve Yohn have combined football and action to produce a that book readers will not be able to forget. Riley Covington was a former Special Ops. After his stint in Afghanistan, he was offered a chance to return to his dream, pro football. Terrorists bring the war to the shores of the US. Suicide bombers. They attack a shopping mall and a football stadium. I do not want to ruin the plot for other readers, so I will stop there.
This is a must read book! I know nothing about football, yet my lack of knowledge did not stop me from becoming engrossed in the plot of Monday Night Jihad book. I found the preseason scenes interesting and amusing. The action of Monday Night Jihad is nonstop. The supporting characters were well-developed. Scott, Jim, Tara, and Khadi were all essential to the plot. This is a fast-paced book. I could not put it down. Riley is a born again Christian. He holds tight to his beliefs and morals even while he fights an evil opponent. The antagonist Hakeem is well-developed. While I did not support his actions, I found sympathy for him. Elam and Yohn allow readers to see the birth and development of a terrorist. A pivotal point in the plot was Riley’s discussion of Christianity with Hakeem. I cannot say enough good about this book! I hope Monday Night Jihad is made into a movie. I expect we will be hearing a lot more from Jason Elam and Steve Yohn.
