My Crowning Glory by author Patricia Ferreira Lopez is about a young child who embraces the fact that her eyebrows connect. Readers follow her as she brings to life different worlds and scenarios in which her eyebrows are important. She is loud and proud about her appearance and knows that she is perfectly beautiful the way she is. With amazing illustrations and a sweet storyline, My Crowning Glory is a must-read children’s picture book!
The topic of this book is unlike any other children’s book I have ever read, but I thought it was unique and appreciated the story that Patricia Ferreira Lopez created out of it. It’s easy to think of things such as connected eyebrows as flaws when we see them on our bodies, but we were made the way we are for a reason and a purpose, and that makes us beautiful. This is easier said than truly believed, however, and Patricia Ferreira Lopez took a small idea and turned it into a bright and positive world. I loved it!
The illustrations by Kristina Dutton are simply magical and fun to look at; the colors are vibrant, and the details are so intricate and well thought out. Getting to travel through the pages with our main character was so much fun, and I would do it again. I would highly recommend My Crowning Glory. It’s an important and heartwarming book that every young child should pick up at some point!
