In Open Secrets, a murder mystery by Jack A. Ori, CJ wanted to use her podcasts to help others after escaping from a dangerous pedophile when she was fourteen. During CJ's call-in segment at the college podcast studio, a young boy reported that his sister Ellie was missing. The little boy's father ended the call by saying it was the wrong number before CJ could find out more. CJ initially encountered resistance when trying to locate Ellie by posting a flyer on social media. Even though Ellie's absence had all the makings of an abduction, the university's dean was keen to keep it a secret. The university administration first deleted CJ's post; after that, she got a menacing message from an unidentified number telling her Ellie did not need her assistance. CJ had to stop looking for Ellie, or someone close to her could be the next missing person.

I could not put Jack A. Ori's suspenseful mystery, Open Secrets, down; it hooked me until the end. It was fast-paced and full of unexpected turns. The action never ceases throughout the narrative, beginning on the first page. I never knew what would happen next and was guessing until the end. The characters were authentic, each with their secrets and motives. CJ was intriguing, clever, and determined to find justice for Ellie but encountered resistance from influential people who wanted to keep the truth hidden. This mystery was far more than I had anticipated and surpassed my expectations. The unexpected turn of events was the last surprise in this expertly-written story.
