I loved the concept of Open the Doors to You by Casey Rislov. I think it can be hard to come up with a fresh idea in a children's book that hasn't been overdone to death, but I have never seen a book about doors. And yet the book isn't focused just on the specific types of doors or what doors lead to literally, but talks more about the kinds of things a person might find behind a wide range of doors. I thought that was a unique approach and I was very impressed with the concept and all of the different avenues this book took us on just by opening doors.
Open the Doors to You by Casey Rislov is also visually stunning. I think illustrations are very important in children's books because many times pictures are what bring the children in and allow them to sit still long enough to hear the story. These illustrations really complement the storyline and go a long way to show readers exactly what they might find behind these amazing doors.
From donation boxes to neighbors baking cookies to the elementary school to music, sports, and arts and crafts, children reading this book are going to have a stimulating, visually appealing ride that they will love. Parents will enjoy reading this story to their children because of the positive messages that are reinforced, as well as the educational information being handed out to kids. Excellent job!
