Our Guide to Navigating ADHD: How to Embrace Challenges, Develop Grit, and Flourish by Jane Timmons-Mitchell and Stephen Mitchell is a helpful guide for anyone supporting a child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. There are both the psychological side and firsthand experience. Jane writes from her professional background, while Stephen contributes a parent's perspective. It focuses on practical ways loved ones can encourage children to build confidence and resilience and achieve long-term success. The book covers topics such as parenting strategies, learning styles, positive relationships, and much, much more. Sprinkled throughout are some helpful graphics, such as one that explains how changing thoughts and behaviors work. One key point to remember: Every person and family is different.

I found Our Guide to Navigating ADHD by Jane Timmons-Mitchell and Stephen Mitchell to be both informative and encouraging. The writing is clear and reader-friendly, which is helpful with a topic like ADHD. As a teacher, I think this book helped me better understand students with this condition. There are examples I’d try, and I could use some of the material when talking to parents. I appreciated that the authors acknowledged both the challenges it can bring and the strengths and opportunities for growth. The combination of research, practical advice, and personal experiences makes the book relatable and useful. Even with my background in education and psychology, I learned a lot. This is a book I’ll be returning to in the future. Parents, educators, counselors, or anyone interested in supporting kids with ADHD will want to pick up a copy. This book reminds readers that children with ADHD can thrive and have a bright future where they can be themselves.
