Owen and Nicole Able are your typical South African married couple, except they’re not. Over the years, they’ve acquired some special skills that make them lethal. Ten years ago, their young son, David, was murdered by persons unknown. On the night of the tenth anniversary, Nicole discovers a clue as to who might have been involved. With exceptional resources available to them through their company, the Able Foundation, they start to investigate. Two surprise attacks result in assassination attempts on both of them. Who survives, and can they find out who or what is behind the attack on their family? Is money the motive, or is it something even more sinister? Read Owen Able and the Two-Headed Dragon by JD Zeeman to find out.

South Africa, particularly Cape Town, is an exciting setting for Owen Able and the Two-Headed Dragon. It’s a welcome change from the generic New York and London settings of many other thrillers. There’s everything you’d expect from an action thriller: car, motorcycle, and light plane chases, a range of gadgets with unique abilities, and a Lexus that turns into a mini submarine. If you’re a fan of fight scenes, you won’t be disappointed. There are gun and knife fights, and plenty of hand-to-hand combat. Owen and Nicole are larger-than-life characters, and it’s easy to get swept up in their adventures. It’s a fast-paced novel that starts big and gets even bigger by the end. JD Zeeman is up there with the likes of Lee Child, Robert Ludlum, and Tom Clancy, so fans of these writers will devour this book as quickly as I did. I’m excited for the next book in the series. However, this novel is for a mature audience due to the level of violence.
