Pagan Justice: A Karl Pagan Crime Thriller by Jags Arthurson introduces us to a group of people who have had life's hard knocks thrown at them everywhere. You have members like Karl Pagan himself, left an orphan when his parents were killed; Lydia who has an abusive ex; Paddy and many more. These are the people who have been pushed around and shoved down. Until they decide to push back against the drug lords, terrorists, flesh peddlers ... just your bad people. With Karl Pagan as the leader of this motley crew, can he save one of their members from an impossible choice?
I love this book. That is the very first phrase that comes to mind when I think of Pagan Justice. Karl Pagan, the lead character, is a loner but he also has all the traits you like to see in a leader; a man who knows right from wrong and is willing to use that knowledge to help. This is a well written crime thriller that has all the turns you expect from one, but still manages to be unique. I enjoyed that while there is the lead character, you get to appreciate the group dynamic of the other people who want Pagan Justice, who have been harmed in their lives and aren't going to take it lying down anymore. The first few chapters can read a little slow, but it is because author Jags Arthurson is taking the time to set everything up well and make sure that you have a solid handle on the characters and what is going on around them. Once you have that, it all starts to flow very well. If you are looking for a crime thriller with a solid plot and characters you can connect to, I would recommend this book.
