Babies are all perfectly made and who better to recognize that simple fact than a loving parent, grandparent, or guardian? One baby is lovingly called Poohlicious by his mother: “I am perfectly precious./ Mommy’s little Poohlicious!” Don’t we all love those endearing names given to us through love? This little Poohlicious is perfect because his eyes are bright and “filled with stars,” and he has a big smile with toes that twinkle. These thoughts are certainly singable to a simple tune and in Mary Elizabeth Jackson and Thornton Cline’s Perfectly Me there are several simple tunes about how perfect little babies are. Perfection is all about perception and love, the forgiving, kind, and accepting type of love that is as perfect as all babies are.
Mary Elizabeth Jackson and Thornton Cline’s picture book, Perfectly Me, is the first book in the Inspired Kids Book series. With simple words, short sentences, and bright, bold, colorful illustrations, this is the perfect book for preschoolers. Early readers will also appreciate the short sentences and repeating words as it will boost confidence in their reading skills. Accompanied by lyrics and the melody (in musical notation), the very young will enjoy singing along with their loving parent words like “I’m perfectly made,” and “I am joy, I make you smile.” This is a great way to share your love with a preschooler who’s still trying to find their place in this very complex world. Building the morale of the really young helps boost their sense of purpose as they grow up. A sweet and gentle book filled with love and, yes, perfection.
